RATES

I charge US$70/hour.

For new clients, I offer free estimates: Send me an electronic copy of the complete document, in MS Word, including the literature cited, any tables and figures, and the name of the target journal. I will edit a few pages of it, note how long that takes me, and estimate the cost of editing the whole document. I will then send you the estimate, together with the document showing my work in MS Word's "track changes" feature. If you do not choose to have me complete the job, those changes are yours to keep, free of charge. If you do, then I will include the time they took me in the final charges.

I accept cash, money orders, checks, and credit cards (through Paypal). Clients at the Florida State University (and other academic institutions) can usually arrange payment by means of a purchase order.

PROCEDURES

Simply send me an electronic copy of the complete document, in MS Word, including the literature cited, any tables and figures, and the name of the target journal. I'll respond promptly with an estimate of how soon I can get to the job, how long it might take, and any questions I have about it.

For new clients, I generally document my changes fairly heavily, explaining why I made the changes I did, both to build authors' confidence in my work and to help authors improve their scientific writing skills. After a few documents, each client may choose whether or not I continue this documentation. In all cases, my work is shown in "track changes" mode, so that the author can always see what I did. I can also offer instruction for authors not used to working with tracked changes.

Please realize that I can never guarantee that a paper I have edited will be accepted by any scientific journal. I can only ensure that the paper will not be rejected solely because it is poorly written.
